2012, a year full of paradoxes for oenology, yielded a great wine that overcame countless challenges. Nature showed its unpredictable and relentless face, with a series of weather events affecting the vineyards: winter and spring frosts, torrential rains, hailstorms and waves of intense cold while the vineyards were budding, as well as strong summer heat waves. Warm, dry weather dispelled any concerns about whether the grapes were healthy and encouraged the grapes to ripen. The harvest began between September 10 and 26, depending on the plots. Tasting the grapes revealed magnificent promise, a balanced tension between freshness and generosity.

Tasting

The assemblage of Dom Pérignon Vintage 2012 reveals a singular structure, vibrant to the rhythm of a controlled energy, channeled by the acid and bitter notes, that bursts and shines. All in a combination of intensity, restrained tension and extreme contrasts. The rich and varied nose combines flowers and fruits, followed by vegetal and mineral notes. The bouquet is tactile, an unobtrusive invitation to follow the powdery trail of white flowers and sweet apricot, landing then to the freshness of rhubarb and mint, and the minerality of ash. White pepper. Energy dominates on the palate. After a pleasant opening, the wine quickly becomes vibrant and then explodes: effervescence bursts through, the sensation is toned. The finish, which converges on acid and bitter notes, brings a penetrating tension, marked by ginger, tobacco and toasted aromas.
