Description : Sagrantino di Montefalco COBRA magnum - Arnaldo Caprai
In 20 years of experimentation, we selected the ancient genotypes of Sagrantino, we studied the DNA, we have cleaned up from viruses and we have collected the different expressions on what may be called a "bank of the genotype," a vineyard that is home to the biodiversity of native varieties. This vineyard site in Montefalco is named COBRA and today constitutes the most extensive database on the world Sagrantino, hosting among others, rooted cuttings obtained from buds collected from plants rather than bicentennial and genotypes that we identified and recovered, which otherwise would have lost due to a natural extinction or erosion of biodiversity (eg loss of scattered trees) or because of? man (as happens during natural renewal operations of vineyards, the removal of agricultural archaic forms). Today come from this vineyard genotypes most suitable for the production of a wine for very high quality and organoleptic characteristics, largely used in the assembly of batches of wine that give life to our Sagrantino di Montefalco 25 Anni. Happens, however, also, that for vintages like 1995, 1997, 2001 and 2005 an d this product? Excellence is bottled for? Business purposes? (ie not for sale) to monitor and maintain a vibrant testimony of how research, genetics and the scientific work they will produce something unique. The wine bottled bears the name of the vineyard of origin, or COBRA, and is a wine that summarizes the history of an area, the value of research and dedication of? Men history and tradition. The Cobra, never marketed until now, is finally available in limited release, for those who want to contribute to a great initiative and try something unique: we remind you that in fact the proceeds will be donated to the Foundation Rita Levi-Montalcini Onlus TO HELP ? education of women in Africa. |
